Ski Weekends in Megeve
A beautiful resort with some of the Alps' most sophisticated restaurants - perfect for client entertaining
Megève became established as a Ski resort in 1916 by the Baroness Maurice de Rothschild as an alternative resort to Gstaad and St Moritz. In the 1950’s, Megève used to claim more crowned heads of state among its guests than any other place in Europe, and continues to attract a sophisticated International clientele and a host of famous faces. It also remains one of the most charming and traditional resorts in the Alps, famous for its luxury hotels, chic boutiques, alluring bars and fine dining restaurants.
Megève has retained its Haute Savoie character over the years and is one of the most picturesque resorts in the Alps. Megeve is a traditional favourite for short ski weekends as it is only a one hour easy motorway drive to and from Geneva's international airport. Combined with the fine quality accomodation and dining the resort is the perfect getaway for companies wishing to combine a bit of skiing with some top quality client entertaining, a staff incentive, teambuilding event or conference.
With over 300km of groomed pistes Megève offers superb skiing and snowboarding for all levels and is the ideal resort for parties of mixed abilities. There really is something for everyone from long cruisy greens to exciting off piste blacks.
On the mountain Megève has over 30 chalet style mountain restaurants with superb mountain views, regarded as ‘the best in the Alps’ the quality and choice are impressive. Off the mountain there are another 50, some of which are simply stunning.
With some of the most sophisticated lift systems in the Alps and with many visitors not skiing, visitors to Megève benefit from almost non-existent queues.
The only problem Megève faces is its relatively low altitude, which can mean a lack of snow in early or late season. When it is good, though, there are few resorts to match its charm.
Megève is a haven for little known boutique hotels that give a true feeling of exclusivity. However, there is also a good selection of larger luxury hotels that can cater for international conferences and corporate events.
